August 28, 2013

On Wednesday 28th August 2013, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their annual August prize show and sale of store sheep within Lazonby Mart.

The show was kindly sponsored by GW Hogarth Agricultural Contractors, Glassonby and was most ably judged by local prime lamb producer Mr Martyn Thompson, High Hall Westward, Wigton who had a large entry to cast his eye over, after much deliberation he awarded the Championship rosette to the 1st prize pen of 33 Continental cross lambs shown by great supporter of Lazonby Mart Messrs W & J Raine, Randalholme, Alston.  Mr Thompson then went on to back his judgment, purchasing the champion pen for £84 apiece.  The reserve champion again came from the Continental cross class for a pen of 20 Beltex cross lambs shown by Mr B Strong, Grapes Barn, Caldbeck these sold at £76 apiece to Messrs Thornborrow, Newbiggin Hall.
