Yan Jacobs is from Cap-Santé, Quebec Canada and was born and raised on Jacobs Farm. He now owns this farm along with his father Jean Jacobs and his sister Ysabel Jacobs.
Jacobs Farm is now milking 215 cows and the herd has 60 EX, 145 VG & 42 GP and the herd average is 11,000 kg, 4.4 F, 3.24 P.
Nowadays Jacobs Farm has been eight times Premier Breeder at World Dairy Expo in Madison and eight times at Royal Winter Fair in Toronto. They also have bred and owned 94 All-Canadian nominations and 60 All-American nominations.
To date Yan’s judging career has taken him in a few countries around the world. Last year he judged the Utah Show and the Wisconsin Spring Show. He has judged numerous county shows in Quebec, in the past few years. In 2016 Yan Jacobs was the associate judge at World Dairy Expo in Madison.
When is he not working at the farm, he also has a full-time job raising his five marvellous children.
We welcome Yan Jacobs to the Borderway UK Dairy Expo as this will be his first time he has judged outside North America.
Pat Conroy lives in Angola, Indiana with his wife, Jeannie, and their children, Kaiden (13) and Zailey (9). Pat markets high-end type and commercial cattle, both domestically and internationally.
He is also co-owner of Genesis Genetics Mexico. Pat owns 60-90 registered Holsteins and Jerseys scattered throughout the United States and several countries along with a small registered herd of Angus owned in partnership.
Pat Conroy has owned or sold numerous All-American and All-Canadian Nominees, many of which have been recognized as Champion, Reserve or Honourable Mention at World Dairy Expo and the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair as well as having 5 cows nominated for the All-World competition.
Pat has judged or fitted cattle in 19 different countries throughout his career. Some of the most notable shows he has judged include the 2018 International Jersey Show, the 2016 International Holstein Show, the 2015 International Red & White Show, the 2013 International Junior Holstein Show and the 2016 European National and Swiss Expo Shows.
Brian is part of a family partnership that farms 450 acres in Somerset. They milk 240 Holsteins and 20 Brown Swiss cows averaging 10,500kg 4.2% on 2 times milking and with 90 EX’s in the herd under the famous Moorshard prefix.
After completing an Agricultural Economics degree from Reading University, and since leaving University he has taken responsibility for managing the cows at Moorshard alongside his father and grandmother. The herd has been 6 times finalists in Holstein UK herd competition and showing has been regularly undertaken at National and Regional level.
Highlights from the show ring within the herd includes Moorshard Lennon Rosa 93 winning Dairy Show Championship, becoming Reserve All Britain 2nd calver in 2013 and also seeing Richard Thomas’ family winning The Dairy Show and Welsh Dairy Shows with Moorshard Dude Parade which he purchased at the Genetic Elite Sale in 2014.
Brian’s judging career has taken him all over the UK and into the Republic of Ireland on several occasions. Within the UK he has officiated at a number of county and regional shows as well as the 2010 National Dairy Event, 2016 All Breed All Britain calf show, was the Holstein judge at the 2017 UK Dairy Day and last year judged the 2018 Great Yorkshire Show.
Amy is from the home of Shanael Holstein’s where her father Michael and two brothers Paul and Steven run a 600-cow dairy herd. When Amy is not busy teaching the next generation how to catch a ball she is helping at home.
Amy is no stranger to the show ring, she has won showmanship classes at the Young Members Association, All Britain National Calf Show and National Holstein Show. She continues to play a big part in Holstein Young Breeders as the West Midland co-ordinator.
Through Holstein Young Breeders, Amy has been lucky to win trips to Canada representing the UK at the Gencor Challenge and was a member of the Walk of Fame Team at the Royal Winter Fair.
Her proudest memories of showing would be when Shanael Leader Marie won the National Holstein Show and being part of the Rapid Bay team at the Royal Winter Fair when Vandenberg Amedeo Gorgeous won Supreme Champion.
Amy has judged at numerous shows and is looking forward to judging the International Showmanship Competition at the UK Dairy Expo 2020.
