Leading Autumn Livestock Event Returns

8th June 2017

After celebrating its first decade as one of the leading livestock events in the UK, Harrison & Hetherington have announced that Borderway Agri-Expo will return to Carlisle on Friday 3rd November.

Attracting thousands of visitors, last year, this winter showcase saw a record breaking 950 livestock entries in the various classes, as well as hundreds of trade stands and exhibitors from the length and breadth of the country.  As an industry platform not only does the show itself play a fundamental part in endorsing the success of British beef and sheep production, the trade stands and exhibits highlight the latest commercial and pedigree breed statistics, trends and cutting edge technology.

On announcing details of this year’s event Harrison & Hetherington’s Operations Director and Event Organiser David Pritchard said: “We are absolutely delighted to announce the date for Borderway Agri-Expo 2017.  Last year’s 10 year celebration event was an outstanding success and one of our major highlights of the year. Year on year the quality of the livestock and trade stands has gone from strength to strength and we aim to continue to build on this.

“As the UK’s largest livestock trading organisation operating in the ever changing and often turbulent industry of farming, we really do feel that it is essential to provide a livestock exhibition platform such as this for farmers and businesses to come together.”

Trade stands will be exhibiting machinery and equipment, livestock handling and management systems, as well as providing specialist advice on feed and nutrition and livestock genetics.  Demand for trade stands is expected to be high with many new and returning exhibitors expressing great interest following the success of recent years.  In addition, there is the opportunity to take advantage of the knowledge-sharing network on offer from the many breeders exhibiting on the day.

Harrison and Hetherington place a great emphasis on highlighting the skill and commitment shown by the younger generations and future farmers at the event.  Key to this is The Young Farmers classes and Young Handlers classes both of which are very highly contested.
