Due to the current Covid-19 situation the British Blonde Society’s annual Sale at Carlisle was held in the form of an Online Time Auction taking place between Friday 8th and Tuesday 12th May.
The top price of £5000 was achieved by regular consignors at Carlisle Messrs Weightman & Son from Easington, Co Durham. Their bull Hallfield Orvil created plenty of interest and the virtual hammer was eventually knocked down to Messrs Lord from Horsham, West Sussex. Orvil was sired by Aaron Jaigo and out of Hallfield Mercedes.
Messrs Weightman also sold Hallfield Odysseus for £3600. Again, sired by Aaron Jaigo, Odesseus was out of Hallfield Marianne. He was purchased by Messrs Walker from Bishop Auckland.
Three bulls sold for £2600, the first of these was Lucy Corner’s Lucyland Orville. Sired by Bridge Jonty and out of Hallfield Fluffy, Orville had won Reserve Male Champion at the Great Yorkshire Show last year. He is on his way to a new home with Messrs Wood from Windermere.
Norman McKnight’s Silverwood Orion also sold for £2600. Orion was sired by the French terminal sire Aneto and out of Silverwood Eve who won Junior Champion at Balmoral in 2010. The successful bidder on this occasion was Messrs Gargett from Barnard Castle, Co Durham.
The third and final bull to go at £2600 was another Aaron Jaigo son from Messrs Weightman & Sons. Hallfield Odin was out of Hallfield Helena and purchased by Messrs Horn from Richmond, North Yorkshire.
Females sold to a top of £2500 for the cow Ark Harmony and her bull calf at foot Katem Rafa consigned by Messrs McNeil from Doncaster. Harmony, a 2012 born cow bred by Alan Keith, is sired by Ark Diego and her calf at foot is a son of Katem Orsum. This unit was purchased by Messrs Ireland from Workington.
