Blue Texel Spring Online Sale

The Blue Texel Sheep Society held what would normally have been their Spring Spectacular Sale at Carlisle in the form of an Online Timed Auction running between Tuesday 19th and Friday 22nd May.

Despite being online only, with all purchases made from photos and videos, the sale did not disappoint with a top price of £5400 achieved. It was an empty ewe hogg from Janet Carson who secured the highest bid, this was Fyfin Blues Diamond sired by Hackney X-Rated and out of an imported dam who won Reserve Champion at the Royal Welsh Show last year. Diamond was purchased by Messrs McFarland from Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

Messrs McFarland also purchased the next two highest prices, at £3800 was the ewe lamb Derg Emerald from S Allen & A Shortt. Emerald, an ET lamb born in February 2020, was sired by Saltire Blue Derek and out of Derg Beyonce. This was followed by another ET ewe lamb at £2800 this time consigned by Chris & Laura Beck. Beckbred Extra Special, was sired by Jonsland Aero and her genetic dam was Whatmore Candyfloss.

Matthew Burleigh sold the ewe lamb Matt’s Ella for £2500. Ella was sired by Saltire Blue Derek and her dam Derg Cindy was purchased privately from the Derg flock and is a sister to the Breed Champion at Balmoral Show last year. The successful purchaser of this lamb was Messrs Roberts from Shrewsbury.

Messrs McFarland continued to add to their flock with the purchase of Little Whisker Enya, a daughter of 6000gns Hackney All Gold and Little Whisker Cora who was part of the Reserve Champion Interbreed Pair at Balmoral Show 2019. Enya consigned by A & J Carson sold for £2251.

Messrs Carson also sold the ewe hogg Little Whisker Debbie for £2200. Debbie was sired by Pistyll Arfon who won Reserve Male Champion at Royal Welsh Show in 2016 and out of am imported ewe. She was purchased by Messrs McDowell from Leicester.

WJ & M Hunter sold a ewe hogg for £2100. This was Hunters Diva, sired by the Dulas X-Treme son Sams 08452 and out of Hunter Beyonce. Diva was purchased by Messrs Barker from Scarborough.
