BLUEHILL TOPS AT £2300
The Bluehill dispersal took place at Borderway on behalf of Mark Caygill and family. The herd of mainly Irish Holstein Friesian cows were managed on an efficient grazing system and were predominately a spring calving herd. The herd was averaging 35kgs with impressive butterfat and protein and displayed a will to produce high volumes of milk with exceptional legs and feet.
The sale was well attended with a further 100 buyers taking part online. The overall average came to £1538 with 20 animals selling for £2000 or above and a further 52 animals selling for £1800 or above. Over 40 animals were purchased online with 30 buyers from 12 counties recorded on the buyers list.
Two young cows milking in their second lactation topped the sale at £2300. Both had outstanding mammries with high, wide rear udders and both has tremendous width through their front ends and rumps. The first 60 lots comprised animals milking from their ninth to sixth lactations. This mature section of the herd averaged £1258 with two sixth lactation cows topping at £1850 and another two seventh lactation cows selling for £1800.
Mark would like to thank everyone who attended his dispersal and hopes the animals continue to be productive in their new homes.
