Doorman Tops Trade At Borderway

A massive crowd of buyers from across the UK and Ireland packed the ringside at Borderway for the February Border & Lakeland show and sale that also included the final part of the Changue Ayrshire dispersal and the dispersal of the Helsington Jersey young stock.

Over 200 top quality pedigree dairy cattle changed hands with trade topping at 4,800gns for a second calve cow with over 50% of the Holstein animals selling for or more than £2000.  Changue Ayrshire’s topped at 2,200gns and the Jerseys topped at 3,200gns with 56 buyers recorded from 18 counties.

The show was professionally judged by Daniel Weaver from Astonpool Holsteins and was sponsored by Zoetis, Cogent and Advanced Nutrition.  Mr Weaver tapped out Wiltor Doorman Alysia as his Overall Champion commenting afterwards he said “My Champion was an easy placing, a fantastic 3yr old with little to fault, she showed a terrific udder with great texture walking perfectly on a great set of feet and legs.  The quality on show today is unrivalled by any other sale around the country and is a credit to the Border & Lakeland Holstein club and the vendors.”

Wiltor Doorman Alysia was consigned by Matthew & Ruth Harper from the Lillyhall & Lambroda pedigree herds near Maryport in Cumbria.  She was freshly calved in her second and had been classified Very Good 87 only 20 days fresh.  Her pedigree was special bred from three generations of Excellent 94 pointed dams.  Her dam was sold for 10,000gns in the Passion for Pedigree Sale in 2016 after winning All Britain Junior 2yr in 2014.  Alysia sold for the top price of the day and now joins Anthony Grimshaw’s prize winning herd in Bolton for 4,800gns
