Border & Lakeland Holstein Club September Sale

The September Border & Lakeland Holstein club sale featured over 200 top quality animals many bred from exceptional pedigrees.  Included in the sale was several part dispersal sales and the sale was concluded by the dispersal of the Lillyhall & Lambroda dispersal that topped the trade at 11,000gns.  Over 100 animals sold for £2000 or more with the overall average for 210 lots coming to over £2000.

Hew & Wilma Howie commenced the dispersal of their Wellhouse and Kirkcolm herd selling 23 cows to average £1889.  They topped the club sale with a maximum classified Jersey cow freshly calved in her second.  Wellhouse Primero Lady Carol was sired by primero and bred from an impressive line of high scoring cows.  Her dam was an Excelelnt 94 Blackstone followed by two Excellent 95 cows.  Lady Carol sold for 3,600gns and was bought by DreamMaker Jerseys from Swindon.

Tom and Ann White from Watsonfoot Farm in Lanarkshire sold the first group of cows and heifers to commence the dispersal of their productive herd. They averaged £2205 and topped the cow Holstein cow trade at 2,350gns for Watsonfoot Zeber Delta.  She was fresh in her second giving almost 40kgs and was sired by Go-Farm Zeber, she was purchased by the Watson’s from Ayrshire.

The Brewster family from near Glasgow sold four well-bred heifers all with eye catching udders and producing oceans of milk to average over £2500.  They topped the heifer trade at 3,200gns for a daughter of Missan from the Royalty cow family.  This perfect uddered heifer was purchased by the Johnstone family from near Lockerbie.

Wormanby Holsteins sold six cows and heifers from their best cow families and all displaying enormous potential to milk with serval giving over 50kgs.  This attractive consignment averaged almost £2400 and topped at 2,800gns for Wormanby Octane Twain who now joins the Emerald Isle Genetics herd in the Rep. of Ireland.  Sired by High Octane her fourth dam was the two times Irish National Champion Eastside S Twain EX96 who was originally bred by the Thompson family from Prince Edward Island in Canada.

Craig and Judy Brough sold an attractive Awesome Red daughter from the Roxy cow family.  This fancy udder heifer was giving 32kgs and sold for 2,600gns going the Gilmour’s from Ayrshire.

The Annandale herd owned by the Armour family sold six heifers topping at 2,600gns for Annandale Scenario Myra who was purchased by the Johnstone’s from near Lockerbie.  This powerful heifer was sired by Sandy-Valley Scenario and bred from nine generations of Excellent or Very Good dams
