Borderway Anniversary Store Cattle Show & Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had forward 1442 head at their Weekly Wednesday Sale at Borderway comprising of 756 catalogued Store Cattle including the Anniversary Show & Sale, 175 Un-entered Store Bulls and Stirks, 288 Calves and 223 Dairy Cattle incorporating the Monthly Sale for the Border & Lakeland Holstein Club.

Borderway was buzzing with activity, and with more confidence throughout the cattle trade, all classes sold exceptionally well, showing a vast improvement in values across the board, on the month.

STORE CATTLE – The annual anniversary show and sale of 800 head, had a fantastic turnout of cattle forward. The Pre sale show was kindly judged by Mr Robert Kealey, Goole who cast his expert eye over an exceptional show.

Claiming the Championship was a truly outstanding British Blue cross heifer shown by Messrs A Bunting & Son, Midtown Farm, New Abbey, which sold for the day’s top price of £1800.

Standing in Reserve was the 1st prize Limousin bullock shown by Messrs Pearson, The Faulds, Caldbeck, this shapely sort sold to £1320 to Mr A Taylor, Lanark.

Outwith the show, the sale witnessed one of the best trades seen in the north of England for some time, with a fantastic show of cattle presented before a packed ringside of buyers. The bullocks levelled at £1104.24 and heifers at £1010.74 giving a sale average of £1043.42
