Borderway Annual Late August Fair Sale of Breeding Sheep

At Borderway Mart, Carlisle on Friday 24th August, Harrison & Hetherington held their Annual “Late August Fair” sale of breeding sheep.

A catalogued entry of 1560 tremendous breeding sheep were forward, to a very busy ringside of buyers.

Topping the trade at £290 was a pen of Texel shearlings from Mr Robert Skelton, Newhall Farm, Maryport, and were purchased by local breeder Mr Tweddell, Wigton. Well fleshed ewes and gimmers were well bid for and saw first cross gimmers up to £152 from Messrs Harrison, Aldermanseat, with other pens selling to £145 and £140.

Other annual consignments sold well with repeated purchasers in attendance.

The next special breeding sheep sale will the noted ‘Euro’ Sale, on Friday 7th September, with entries closing on Monday 27th August.
