New Lamb Record set at 12,500gns
Aberdeenshire breeder, Stuart Wood of the Woodies flock set a new Beltex lamb record at the premier society show and sale with his first entry from the Woodies pen which sold for 12,500gns. Woodies Sop Dog an end of January born son of Kingledores Rascal and bred from a Cookstown Hamish sired Ludgate mother, won his class in the pre-sale judging along with the male and reserve supreme champion ticket. No stranger to the show ring, Sop Dog won the 2nd prize rosette earlier in the year at the Royal Highland Show. This very stylish lamb caught the attention of the McAllister family and w joins the Artnagullion flock based near Co.Antrim, N.Ireland.
The next leading price of 7,000gns came from the female and supreme champion entry which was shown by Steve and Sarah Gibbons of the Whatmore flock, Brecon. Whatmore Ruby is a dazzling gimmer sired by Woodies Perfection and carries the Whatmore and Llwynbrain bloodlines through her mothers pedigree. Ruby, a superb gimmer with tremendous style, has already successfully won the supreme champion and interbreed championship at the 2012 Three Counties Show. She was sold to RW Hudson of Plumtree, Notts.
Averages – 205 gimmers £655.51, 135 lamb rams £978.44.
