Borderway Beauties Suffolk Sale

The second Borderway Beauties Suffolk female sale took place at Carlisle on Friday evening where a busy ringside and a record number of online bidders saw a top price of 6000gns achieved.

It was Dennis Taylor’s Ballynacannon flock that topped the sale this year with his Lakeview Innuendo sired gimmer KKW:18:00933. This gimmer was out of the Limestone To-Tal daughter KKW:12:039 and is a full sister to Ballynacannon Billionaire who won Champion Suffolk at Royal Cornwall Show.  The successful purchaser of this gimmer was another consignor, Iain Barbour of the Solwaybank flock.

Ballynacannon – Lot 28A – 6000gns

Andrew Wilson’s Castleisle flock produced the best of the ewe lambs on offer when he sold his first lamb DDX:19:01121 for 4100gns. Sired by the current Sire of the Year Strathbogie A Kind of Magic this lamb was out of a homebred ewe by Shannagh Resolve. She was purchased by Messrs Owen from Gwynedd.

Castleisle – Lot 65 – 4100gns

The Solwaybank flock sold their first gimmer into the ring for 4000gns. This was FHT:18:01603 sired by Lakeview Harbinger and out of a homebred daughter of Lakeview The Boss who is a maternal sister to the two time Royal Highland Show Champion Solwaybank Eva Jane.  This gimmer was purchased by Messrs McMenamin from Co Donegal, Eire.

Also at 4000gns was PWN:18:01037 from Stephen Sufferin’s Crewelands flock, this gimmer was a member of the flock’s show team this year and had stood 5th at the NI Championships. Sired by Ballynacannon Booty Hunter and out of a homebred dam by Birness Bravado this gimmer was bought by Messrs Delves from Craven Arms.

Crewelands – Lot 33 – 4000gns

Mark Priestley’s Limestone flock sold a gimmer for 3800gns, this was the Lakeview No Limits daughter, KPC:18:00999, out of a Strathbogie bred dam who is an ET sister to 20,000gns Jackpot.  The successful bidder on this occasion was Messrs Hutchinson from Kirkby Stephen.

Limestone – lot 48 – 3800gns

The Limestone flock had a successful day with the highest gimmer average of £2205. Mark also sold a ewe lamb for 2600gns. KPC:19:01222, sired by the record breaking Limestone Aston Martin and out of a Forkins ewe that has bred very well for the flock, was purchased by Messrs Fear from Bristol.

S & W Tait’s Burnview flock sold to a top of 2200gns for T86:18:01212, a daughter of 6200gns Strathbogie Im Invincible and out of one of the flock’s best female families that has bred many high price animals. This gimmer was purchased by Messrs Williams from Gwynedd.

At 2100gns was Forkins AOR:18:02110 from  Alistair Gault. This gimmer was sired by Forkins Black Gold and out of a homebred Cairness New Approach daughter. She was also purchased by Messrs Delves.
