On Friday 24th August Harrison & Hetherington held their monthly sale of Beef Breeding cattle.
Top quality outfits were on offer at Borderway, however they were in short supply and commanded prices up to £2000-3000. Trade overall fell short of last month’s sale, despite a busy ringside of prospective purchasers.
The sale peaked at £3200 for a pedigree Limousin heifer and calf from Messrs Myerscough, Sea View, Ulverston, his run later went on to average £2566.
Messrs Wilson, Arngill House, Middleton-In-Teasdale sold a fabulous run of Continental cross heifers and calves which topped at £2800 and averaged £2333.
In calf heifers sold to a top of £1200 for a Charolais from Mr S Dale, Airds of Balcary, and bulling heifers selling to £1090 from Messrs Holburn, Durham.
