Borderway Latter Fair of Mule Gimmer Lambs

14th September 2017

On Thursday 14th September Harrison and Hetherington held their annual  ‘Latter Fair Sale’ of 5000  Mule gimmer lambs.

The pre-sale show was kindly sponsored by Dodd & Co Accountants and Capontree Vets.  The judging was left in the capable hands of local enthusiasts Trevor Foster, Sebergham and David Mattinson, Cockermouth with Edwin Holliday Jnr, Wigton acting as referee.

A fabulous show of 12 of the finest pens of lambs was presented in front of the judges, after a great deal of deliberations they presented the Dodd & Co trophy and 1st prize rosette along with the special NEMSA rosette for the highest placed pen of NEMSA lambs to Messrs Moore, Highside which later went on to sell at £190 to Messrs JJ Brough, Clappers, Langrigg.

The sale was topped by Kilnstown Farms Ltd with an outstanding pen of 10 which sold at £310 to Mr Graeme Jackson, Bentham.

The overall sale average was £95.89 which is a very respectable return with a larger amount of running lambs forward which proved harder to cash.
