The first Borderway Monthly Dairy Day in 2018 had 117 dairy cattle on offer, comprising of freshly calved cows & heifers, in-calf heifers, bulling heifers and heifer calves. There was a smaller consignment of freshly calved animals with the trade topping at £1750 to average just over £1350 for a complete clearance.
Topping the Holstein trade at £1750 was a very milky cow giving over 45kg consigned by B&V Davidson from Errolston Farm, Gretna. She produced over 12000kgs in her second and had the potential to develop into an Excellent cow.
Topping the heifer trade was a daughter of TW Goodwhone consigned by DJ Livingstone, Kirtlevale, Gretna. She was giving over 30kgs and bred from a dam who twice gave over 10000kgs, she sold for £1500.
The best trade of the day went to M&M Maxwell North Doddington, Wooler who sold four British Friesian cows to average £1370 with two selling at £1450.
The dispersal sale of the Young stock from the Park Farm Partnership followed the milking sale and topped at £900 for Almond Alpine Moya. The young stock averaged £596 with 23 selling for or more than £700.
The next dairy sale at Borderway takes place on Wednesday 17th January comprising 150 freshly calved cows and heifers and features the second sale to disperse the Deveronside herd.
