Borderway Monthly Dairy Day

28th February 2018

The Beast from The East certainly made things interesting today for the Borderway Monthly Dairy Day sale and the Inshanks dispersal sale with many roads closed and driving conditions not suitable for trucks and trailers.  Only 56 animals from the 124 entered made it to Borderway however the trade was strong with a top price of £1850 to average £1578 with only 12 milking animals selling for less than £1450.  A massive thanks to all the buyers who travelled today!

Topping the sale at £1850 was a daughter of Cogent DG Superstyle consigned by Richard Livingstone from Kirtlevale Farm, Gretna.  This awesome uddered heifer was giving 32kg and bred from a Lucent dam with over 10,000kgs.  The five heifers from this home averaged £1650.

Selling for £1820 was a daughter of Italian super star Toc-Farm Goldfish consigned by GH Denwood, Julian Holme, Seascale.  They also sold a outstanding second calve cow for £1780 giving close to 40kgs for £1780 sired by Lake-Effect Sho Contact.

There was a super consignment of 17 freshly calved cows and heifers from R&A Slack Cockley Bank that topped at £1800 for a powerful heifer sired by Welcome Armitage giving 30kgs.  Another heifer that caught the eye from this consignment was sired by Relough Danumeno and sold for £1780.

There was a quality group of in-calf heifers that sold below their value topping at £1180 for a well developed heifer from McNabney Brothers.

The next dairy sale at Borderway takes place on Wednesday 14th March comprising 80 freshly calved cows and heifers and 35 in-calf heifers  On online version of this catalogue can be viewed at or can be ordered from the Pedigree Office 01228 406230
