BANKVIEW HERD TOPS THE FIRST SALE OF THE SUMMER
The June monthly dairy day sale at Borderway was packed from start to finish with quality cows and heifers all giving large volumes of milk.  The ringside was packed with an enthusiastic crowd of buyers from across the North of England, North Wales, Scotland and N. Ireland.  Almost 200 dairy cattle changed hands topping at £2,050 for a second calved cow with all milking animals sold to average £1677 an increase of £177 on the month.

Topping the trade at £2,050 was Bankview Murray Una consigned by Mark Walton from Kirby Stephen.  She was giving 50kgs in her second lactation with one of the best udders to sell at Borderway for some time.  She was sired by Bowberhill Murray and bred from two Excellent dams both with huge production.

Balcurvie Holsteins from Fife sold 15 outstanding heifers all with wide rumps strong feet and legs and mammary systems that caught the attention of the buyers.  This super group topped at £1980 for a heifer sired by Bossman giving 34kgs.

Andrew Graves from Home Farm, Tallentire sold seven very milky heifers to average £1741 with two heifers selling for £1950.

The trade for British Friesians was brisk with the Williamson family from the Howes Farm, Appleby selling eight cows and heifers to average £1706, topping twice at £1850 for two very milky second calvers

Milking Shorthorns topped at £1850 for Marleycote Sapphire consigned by the Baynes family from Hexham.  She was sired by Marleycote Hurricane and was giving 38kgs.

In calf heifers were less value compared to last month averaging £1380 and topping twice at £1500 for heifers consigned by David Graham from South Lambhill near Longtown.

Holstein Friesian bulling heifers were also good value for money down just over £100 on the month.  Topping the bulling heifer trade was another well grown heifer from David Graham from South Lambhill near Longtown.

The Woodburn family from Killoch Farm near Galston in Ayrshire sold 27 Ayrshire bulling heifers from their much admired herd.  This well bred and stylish group of heifers display loads of potential and topped at £820 on numerous occasions for daughters of Willsbro Is-Red and Changue Stadium.
