The April Borderway Monthly Dairy Day normally is full of spring flavour with milk producers busy with spring work, however the 2018 season has been more than challenging with weather conditions less than favourable. Despite this, trade and demand remains strong with heifers topping at £2200 to average over £1423.
Topping the sale at £2200 was a daughter of Crackholm Fever consigned by Messrs Hastwell, The Buildings Farm, Kirkby Stephen. This awesome uddered heifer was giving 35kg and bred from a Mammoth dam with over 11000kgs. The five heifers from this home averaged almost £1900.
There was a super consignment of 10 freshly calved cows and heifers from R&A Slack Cockley Bank that topped at £1800 for a powerful heifer sired by Coldspring Ponder giving 30kgs. Another heifer that caught the eye from this consignment was sired by Relough Penzel and sold for £1780.
Cows topped at £1900 for daughter of Pine-Tree AltaOak consigned by B&V Davidson Errolston Farm, Gretna. She was giving 51kgs and bred from an Excellent 93 dam with alomosy 14000kgs in her last lactation.
