On Monday 10th September, Borderway Mart held their annual show and sale of Mule gimmer shearlings.
The annual show and sale of attracted 2000 head forward and was expertly judged by Mr Stewart Nelson, Rosegill Head, Penrith.
Trade throughout the sale exceeded all expectations and saw vendors leaving highly delighted. The annual consignments sold with ease, seeing a large ringside of buyers, with lambed gimmers in higher demand then dry gimmers.
Topping the sale was Overall Champion from Messrs, Ridsdale, Yew Tree at £165 followed by other pens at £160 & £158 with the average form his run of sheep at £148.
Other annual consignments also sold with ease, seeing returning purchasers paying up to £150 on many occasions. Resulting in some very respectable averages, seeing many consignments levelling at £135 or more.
