PRIME BULLS: A total of 90 prime bulls were forward and were met by a similar trade to last weeks. Topping at £1665.30 was a British Blue from Mr Hall, Ainstable Hall, with Limousins from the same home selling to £1575.68. Dairy bred bulls peaked at £1148.10 from Messrs T & M Irving, Bectonhall.
Top pence per kilo was achieved by Mr Iain Graham, Rose Castle selling a Limosuin to 219.5ppk. British Blues sold to 217.5ppk from Mr Hall, Ainstable.

Top overall cow was a Limousin from Messrs Barclay, South Road who attained £1706 and was purchased by Messrs Kirkpatrick, Lockerbie. The same vendor sold the top price Charolais cross to £1313. Simmentals sold to £1217 from Messrs Houldey, Kirtleton House, Lockerbie. Top overall pence per kilo of 175.5p was received by Messrs Callion, Lodge Farm, Workington for their Limousin and purchased by Messrs Fell. Aberdeen Angus crosses sold to 165.5p from Messrs Moffat, Thornby Villa, Wigton and 162.5p for a British Blue cross from Messrs Nixon, Stotsfold, Hexham. Black and whites peaked at £1122 from Messrs Hunter, Berrier Head, Penrith. Montbeliardes from Messrs Willey, Broomfield, Newcastle sold to £957 and Friesians from Messrs Bendle, The Nook, Carlisle achieved the same money and top pence per kilo of 147.5p.

PRIME CATTLE: The weekly prime cattle sale saw an entry of 54 forward, with trade selling yet again sharper on the week.
Topping the trade at £1621.40 was a Limousin bullock from Messrs Studholme, Nealhouse Farm. Topping the heifers at £1549.94 was a Limousin heifer from Messrs Blake, Halfway Well. A British Blue heifer topped the pence per kilo at 236.5ppk from Messrs Brough, How Gill.

PRIME SHEEP – The weekly sale of prime sheep had an entry of 670 hoggs,145 lambs and 202 cast ewes forward. All classes sold well with the best end of every section in good demand.
Spring lambs sold to £152 for an outstanding 44kg Beltex lamb from Messrs Musgrave, Cardew Hall, Dalston. This lamb also topped pence per kilo at 345.5ppk to Mr Morgan Helliwell. Messrs Horsley, The Stackyard, Wigton followed at £140 or 333.3ppk for a pen of Beltex selling to Mr A Dawson.
An overall spring lamb average of 247ppk (SQQ 2600ppk) was achieved.
Hoggs sold to £114 from Messrs RD Horn, Field House, Penrith, and to 250ppk from Messrs Noble, Mill Farm, Bekermet.
Cast ewes and rams sold to £134 twice from Messrs Jenkinson, Clifton Moor, Penrith.
