Borderway Sale of Store and Weaned Cattle

Harrison & Hetherington had an entry of 1021 head at their Weekly Wednesday Sale of Cattle at Borderway, comprising of 617 catalogued Store Cattle, Un-entered Store Bulls and Stirks, 232 Calves and 172 dairy which included the dispersal sale of the Westminster Acres Dairy Herd on behalf of Mr Adamson, County Durham,

STORE CATTLE –  An entry of 410 store cattle were forward at the weekly store sale.  A smaller show than of late fell short of buyers expectations resulting in an excellent trade.  The sale topped at £1300 for a fantastic British Blue x bullock from Messrs Cairns, Windynook, Armathwaite.  Heifers sold to £1285 for a pair of cracking Limousin crosses from G Brough, Old Rectory Farm, Kirkbampton.  Young cattle were especially  dear seening a pair of yearling Limousin x bullocks selling to £1205 from Messrs Watson, Parcelstown, Longtown.

WEANERS –  Although a smaller show of weaners the quality was much improved, seeing all classes of cattle well bid for and vendors leaving highly delighted.  Top price on the day was for three Limousin x steers from Kilnstown Farms peaking the sale at £1130 with the following pen making £1120.
