Borderway Sale of Store & Weanling Cattle

Harrison & Hetherington had forward 837 head at their Weekly Wednesday Sale of Cattle comprising of 594 catalogued store cattle and un-entered store bulls and stirks, 243 calves.  Trade in all rings today saw prices much sharper to that of previous weeks.

STORE CATTLE – A smaller show of 400 store cattle forward selling far dearer on the week.  Top overall was two British Blue cross heifers from Messrs McKie, Lawrence Holme, Wigton achieving £1180.  Limousin crosses to £1100 from Messrs Slack Newby Farm, Carlisle and Charolais to £1095 from Messrs Routledge, Old Silloth, Wigton.

Steers peaked at £1140 from Valmar Investments, Kirkhill Farm, Dalton selling a Limousin cross and Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1070 from the same home.  British Blue crosses from Messrs Robinson, Bridge End, Keswick selling for £1065.  Many more could have been sold, please advise entries.

WEANED CATTLE: A good show of 192 weanlings were forward with a large ring side of buyers ensuring a sharper trade.  Messrs Wigham, Hargill House run of Limousin bulls topped at £1140, £1030 and £1000.  Messrs Graham, Wallhead run of British Blue x bulls topped at £1050.  Messrs Robson, Gelt House run of bullocks topped at £1010 for a Montbelairde x and £920 for a British Blue bullock and £920 for a Limousin x.  Messrs Thompson, Sanson Seal farm sold two cows and calves for £1070 and £1050.
