Borderway Sale of Store & Weanling Cattle

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had forward over 1000 cattle at their Weekly Wednesday sale comprising of 700 Catalogued Store cattle and Un-entered Store bulls and Weanlings, 268 Calves and 131 Dairy cattle forward for the Monthly Sale.

All classes of cattle continue to meet an exceptionally strong demand with more needed to satisfy buyers requirements.

STORE CATTLE – A plainer offering of 436 store cattle forward selling to a fantastic trade for all classes.  Top overall was a superb Charolais cross steer from regular vendors Messrs Udale, Sideways Bank, Penrith who attained £1250 and £1245 for another.   Limousin crosses from Messrs Dean, Kirkhouse, Brampton sold to £1235 and £1230 from Messrs Dobson, East View, Carlisle.  British Blues to £1200 from Messrs Story, Blackrigg, Longtown and Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1130 from Messrs Pattinson, Flatt, Carlisle.  Heifers were again very easy to sell and peaked at £1240 on two occasions, firstly from Messrs Udale, Sideways Bank for a Charolais cross and secondly by Messrs Mason, Bank Farm, Penrith for a Limousin cross.  Messrs Bowman, Croft House, Penrith sold another Charolais cross to £1230 and other Limousins crosses to £1220 from Messrs Robinson, Pelutho Park, Wigton and Messrs Donaldson, East Park, Carlisle.  More could have been sold to vendors advantage.  Please advise entries to main Office or to any of our auctioneers,

WEANED CATTLE: A larger show of 280 weaned cattle were forward with trade being very similar to the previous week, however plainer sorts sold slightly cheaper on the week.

Topping the trade at £1035 were Messrs Sherwen, Tarn How, Seascale with a pair of British Blue heifers.

Quality was well sought after with 9 and 10 month old heifers from Messrs Thompson, East Unthank, Haltwhistle selling to £1010 and £1000.
