Borderway Show and Sale of Pedigree Charollais Sheep

A catalogued entry of just over 70 Charollais rams were presented at the annual show and sale held at Carlisle.

Overall Championship presentation  l/r Jonathon Guy (sponsor JG Animal Health), Alan Brown (judge), Messrs Kennedy (winner).  Top price entry which sold for 920gns.

Topping the sale at 920gns was a shearling ram shown by Dumfriesshire breeder F Kennedy of Wester Parkgate.  The home bred big upstanding ram, a son of Glyn Goch Idol and out of a Ballyhibbon Wheelbrace Willie bred daughter, also won the pre-sale supreme champion award.  He was sold to W & C Iceton & Son of Barnard Castle.

Following at 700gns was the events reserve supreme champion, a shearling ram exhibited by Yorkshire breeder Charles Marwood.  This December 2009 born entry, Rainbow Komodo Dragon, sired by Rainbow Great Uncle Gerald, was kcked down to CR & A Thornborrow of Hawes.

1st prize lamb ram and top price lamb shown by FH & M Kennedy from Parkgate flock and sold for 650gns

Topping the lamb ram section at 650gns was an entry from the Parkgate pen of Messrs Kennedy.  This early December born lamb, a son of Ballye House Isaac and bred from a Foxhill Jake sired mother, won the pre-sale lamb class.  He caught the eye of Isle of Man breeder, B Leece from Peel.
