On Monday 22nd October at Borderway Mart, Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store and breeding sheep.
Store Sheep: A large show of store lambs was forward, with trade looking dear in comparison to the average price of prime lambs. Top call of the day were Texel cross lambs from Messrs Monkhouse of Grange View, Wigton selling to £66.50. Mules again were good to sell and peaked at £58 per head again from Messrs Kerr of Netheroakshaw.

Breeding Sheep: A bigger show of 342 breeding females were forward at the weekly sale where all classes were clearing well and at a good trade. Top was 5 Texel ewe lambs from M/s Evans of Longhorsley, Hexham selling to £110 per head.
Leading price per head: Ewe Lambs: Texel £110 Longhorsley, Greyfaced £91, £69 Pennine View, Suffolk £80 Lowther Street.
Shearling Gimmers: Texel £108 Cragg House, £100 Townhead, Greyfaced £105 Kershope Foot.
Ewes: Texel £98, £92 Cragg House, Greyfaced £90, £86 Kershope Foot, £80 Ingledene, £80 Langrigg Hall, Hill Cheviot £88 Kershope Foot, Lleyn £60 Slodahill.
Breeding Rams: Yet again ather good entry of tups forward with a good clearance rate achieved. Top call was a Bluefaced Leicester ram lamb selling to £700 from M/s Bastian of Cairnhall, Dumfries.
