Borderway Store and Breeding Sheep Sale

On Monday 4th March Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their weekly sale of store and breeding sheep.

STORE SHEEP: A smaller show of store hoggs were forward due to the recent wintery weather. Quality runs of hoggs proved popular and saw the top price of £70.50  being achieved by Messrs Sim, Chapel House, West Newton for a tremendous run of Charollais cross hoggs.

Mule wethers from Messrs Gate, Low House, Cockermouth selling for £64.50.

Leading prices per head: Charollais £70.50 Chapel House, Texel £64.50, £56 Burn House, £62, £60.50, £60 Anthorn Farm, £60 Eden Gate Holme Farm, £58.50 Dalefoot, Blue Texel £64, £55.50 Dalefoot, Suffolk £63.50 Ellesmere, Greyfaced £62.50 Low House, Whitefaced Woodland £56.50, £53.50 Dalefoot.

BREEDING SHEEP: Following the sale of stores saw a small selection of breeding sheep. In lamb ewes seeing a top price of £102 for 3 shear Texel ewes.

Next week’s sale will include a large quatity of ewes and lambs along with a consignment of 30 black Texel cross hoggs in lamb to the black Beltex.
