Borderway Store and Breeding Sheep Sale

On Monday 20th January Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store and breeding sheep.

STORE SHEEP: A packed ringside of buyers were in attendance, ensuring all classes sold with ease, and all vendors leaving highly delighted with their trade.

Top price of the day was a pair of Blue Texel hoggs from Messrs Watson, Millriggs selling to £106.

All classes of sheep sold to a strong demand, with small Texel cross and Suffolk cross hoggs selling to £80 or more.

BREEDING SHEEP: Following the store sheep saw the sale of Breeding sheep, which included the dispersal of Lleyns and Lleyn cross Texel from Messrs McGarva, Barwhanny Farm, Newton Stewart. This great run of 512 sheep averaged £155.47 throughout, with shearlings averaging £169.64.

Top price of the day of £220 was paid for a for a pen of Texel cross 3 shear ewes scanned for twins.
