Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had forward 1312 head of cattle at their Weekly Wednesday Sale at Borderway consisting of 970 catalogued Store Cattle, Un-entered Store Bulls and Stirks, 252 Calves and 90 Dairy Cattle in the Monthly Dairy Day.

Borderway was exceptionally busy with a large entry of all classes of rearing, grazing and feeding cattle presented to a packed ringside.

STORE CATTLE –  At the weekly sale an entry of 549 store cattle were on offer.  A plainer show of cattle forward this week, however the ringside was full yet again resulting in a brisk trade throughout.  The sale peaked at £1285 on two occasions for Limousin bullocks which were both consigned by Messrs Weal, Birkshawhead, Kirkpatrick Fleming.  Heifers peaked at £1280 for a great Limousin heifer which was consigned by Messrs Wales, Thackwood, Raughton Head.

WEANERS- A large show of 421 weanlings were forward with a large ring side of buyers which ensured all classes were good to sell. Messrs Ramsey, Millisle Farm run of cattle topped at £1120 for an Aberdeen Angus bullock.  Messrs Nordon, Hindrigg Farm consignment of cattle topped at £1005 for an Aberdeen Angus heifer.  Messrs Wigham, Hargill House run of Limousin bulls topped at £1030 and £1000 (x2).
