Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had forward 1159 head of cattle at their Weekly Wednesday Sale at Borderway comprising of 779 store cattle, un-entered young bulls and stirks, 376 calves and 4 dairy cattle.

STORE CATTLE – A large show of 506 store cattle were forward with a good ring side of buyers which ensured that all good and well fleshed cattle would be slightly dearer on the week.

Messrs Watson, Howrigg Farm, sold a Charolais x heifer for £1270.   Messrs Foster, Rye Hill sold the top priced Limousin x heifer which sold to £1250.

In the steer section the top price was an Aberdeen Angus bullock from Messrs Hebson, Town End which sold for £1220. Limousins sold to a top price of £1200 from Messrs Fisher, Lairdlaugh and finally Messrs Carr & Partners, Upper Higham Lane sold the top priced Charolais at £1200.

WEANED CATTLE: – A good show of weanlings saw a nice trade with a top of £1245 for a Limousin x bull from Messrs Crozier, Raggetsyke.
