Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had forward 891 head of cattle at their weekly Wednesday Sale comprising of 619 Catalogued Store Cattle, Un-entered Store Bulls and Stirks and 272 Calves.

Another very useful entry of cattle met a keen enquiry with quality well bred, well fleshed cattle of all ages in demand.

STORE CATTLE – Once again a very good entry of 407 store steers and heifers forward seeing a mixed trade for a poorer show.  Top overall was £1330 for a Limousin cross steer from Messrs Holliday, Broathill, Kirkpatrick Fleming.  British Blues to £1260 from Messrs Smithson, Skelcies Hall, Kirkby Stephen.  Charolais to £1220 from Messrs Graham, Burnfoot, Annan.  Heifers peaked at £1260 for a Limousin from Mark Batty, Flimby Hall, Maryport and British Blues to £1130 form Messrs Raine, Ravenwood, Penrith.

WEANED CATTLE: A large entry of 213 weaned cattle saw quality slightly less and demand back on the week.

Topping the trade was a pair of tremendous Limousin x steers from Messrs Mattinson, Burthwaite, Bassenthwaite selling at £970.   Quality stock once again sold very well seeing ¾ bred cattle slightly sharper on the week.  The lower quality stock saw less demand
