Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had forward an entry of 1295 head of cattle at their weekly Wednesday Sale comprising of 677 Catalogued Store Cattle, Un-entered Store Bulls and Stirks and 388 Calves.  Also this day was the Borderway Monthly Dairy day which had 230 Dairy cattle which included cows and heifers in milk, in calf and maidens heifers.  A busy December day at Borderway resulting in a strong demand in every department and all classes met a marvelous trade.

STORE CATTLE –  At the weekly sale an  entry of 438 were forward which was a large entry for the time of year and drew another large company of buyers to the ringside resulting in a trade much dearer on the week.  The sale topped at £1235 for a fabulous Charolais x bullock shown by Messrs Udale, Sideway Bank, Penrith.  Heifers sold to a top of £1205 for a great pen of three Limousins crosses which were consigned by Messrs Graham, Cumdivock Farm, Wigton.

WEANED CATTLE: A larger show of 240 weaners were forward with a good ring side of buyers which ensured that all good stirks would be dearer on the week.

Messrs Pattinson, Bonshawside sold two Pure Limousin bulls for £1200.  Messrs Eve, Stubbsgill Farm, run of Limousin bulls topped at £1160.  Messrs Norman, Little Orton Farm, Limousin bulls topped at £1050.  Messrs Neve, Haining House Farm consignment of bullocks and heifers topped at £840 for a Limousin x bullock.  Messrs Noble, Walmgate run of bullocks topped at £810 for a 9 month old Limousin x bullock and £800 (x2) for an 8 and 9 month old Blonde x bullocks from Messrs Noble, Mill Farm, Beckermet.
