Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had an entry of 1070 head of cattle at their Weekly Wednesday Sale consisting of 813 Catalogued Store cattle and Un-entered Store bulls and Stirks and 257 Calves.  With plenty of buyers in attendance all rings met a sharper trade on the week.

STORE CATTLE – Yet another good entry of 561 store cattle forward with trade once again sharper on the week and all vendors leaving delighted.

Top overall was a Limousin cross steer from Messrs Robinson, Pelutho Park, Wigton, achieving £1390 and £1300 for another from the same home.  Charolais to £1310 from Messrs Udale, Sideway Bank, Penrith.  British Blues to £1290 from Messrs Beaty, Durdar Farm, Carlisle and £1250 from Far Close Farm, Knock, Appleby and Aberdeen Angus to £1125 from Messrs Graham, Burncroft, Annan.

Heifers saw a day’s top of £1270 and £1260 for Limousin crosses from Messrs Moffat, Stone House, Gretna.   Charolais to £1220 from Messrs Wallace, Claycrop Farm, Newton Stewart.  Black and whites peaked at £955 for a pen of four from Messrs Neill, Thornington Farm, Mindrum.

WEANERS-  A good show of 252 weanlings were forward with a large ring side of buyers ensuring a good trade throughout.  Messrs Powley, Low Northsceugh Limousin bulls topped at £1060 and Messrs Norman, Little Orton Farm, run of 9 month old Limousin bulls topped at £1050 (x3) and £1010 (x2) .  Messrs Martin, Hesleywell run of bullocks topped at £890 and £885 for an 11 month and 9 month old Limousin crosses.
