Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

Harrison and Hetherington Ltd had forward 1285 head of cattle at their weekly Wednesday Sale, consisting of 841 Catalogued store cattle, un-entered store bulls, stirks,  229 calves and 215 dairy cattle in the monthly Border and Lakeland Sale.  Included in the dairy sale was the final dispersal of the Changue Ayrshire herd and the Dispersal sale of youngstock from the Helsington Jersey Herd.

More cattle are required to satisfy the demand for all classes of cattle as plenty of buyers are in attendance.

STORE CATTLE – At the weekly sale of store cattle the sale attracted a fantastic entry of 568 head.  Messrs TT & JE Mason, Bank Farm, Unthank who was selling cattle at Carlisle for the first time in many years topped the sale with two fantastic Limousin cross bullocks which sold at £1300 each, their consignment of eight cattle sold to average £1236.25.  Heifers sold to £1265 for an outstanding Aberdeen Angus from Messrs J & D Glendinning, Bridge End, Annan.  All classes of cattle were easily sold to a packed ring side of buyers.

WEANERS-  Once again a good show of 273 weanling were forward with a good ring side of buyers ensuring a good trade through out.  Messrs Cornthwaite, Balgray Hill run of Limousin bulls topped at £1130 and £1070 for 10 and 14 months of age.  Messrs Hodgson, Bayle Hill sold an 11 month old Limousin bull for £1090 and £1000 x 2.  Messrs Bell, Woodhall Farm, sold a 9 month old Limousin bull for £1040.  Messrs Burrow, Lodge Farm, sold the top price British Blue bull at 10 months old selling for £1030 and Messrs Goldsbrough, Oakrigg Farm, sold the top priced Simmental bull for £1025.  Messrs Faulder, Amazone House topped bullock and heifer sections with British Blues with a 12 months old bullock at £1010 and a heifer at 11 month of age for £990.
