Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had forward over 1100 head at their Weekly Wednesday Sale of Cattle comprising of 911 Catalogued Store cattle and Un-entered stirks and 255 Calves.

With more vendors taking advantage of the strong trade at Carlisle consistently good numbers are attracting more buyers every week.

STORE CATTLE – Once again the store cattle ring offered a fantastic catalogue entry of 639 whereby all classes remain firm with old and many new vendors leaving delighted within their days trading.  Topping the sale at £1360 was a tremendous British Blue cross heifer from Messrs Twentyman, Osborne Farm, Wigton who’s run of British Blue crosses and Limousins averaged £1303 .  Limousin heifers topped at £1350 from Messrs Beattie, Woodfield, Annan who achieved top overall average from his consignment of £1335.  Charolais topped at £1125 from Messrs Brown, Stockber, Kirkby Stephen.

Steers topped at £1255 for a dairy bred Limousin x from Messrs Dickinson, High House, Wigton.  Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1240 from Messrs Palmer, Longrigg Thorn, Carlisle.  British Blues to £1210 from Messrs Mason, Bank Farm, Penrith and finally Charolais to £1145 from Messrs Harrison,  Beck Farm, Wigton.

WEANERS-  A good show of 272 weanlings were forward.  Messrs Pattinson, Bonshawside run of Limousin bulls topped at £1100 and £1060 (x2) for 10 and 11 month of age. Messrs Johnston & Son, Orton Hall run of Limousin x bulls topped at £1020 for an 11 month old.
