Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had forward just under a 1000 head of cattle at their Weekly Wednesday sale consisting of 698 catalogued store cattle, un-entered store bulls and stirks and 292 calves. A large number of cattle forward for June met a very strong demand throughout with a large company of buyers in every ring ensuring a highly satisfactory days trading for all concerned.

STORE CATTLE – At the weekly store cattle sale saw an entry of 296 head.  All classes of cattle were well bid for with another large company of buyers at the ringside.  The sale topped at £1285 for a marvellous pen of 3 Charolais x bullocks which were brought forward by L E Grice & Son, Newtown Farm, Carlisle.  Heifers peaked at £1090 for a great Aberdeen Angus from Messrs Haston & Son, Swordwellrigg, Annan.

WEANED CATTLE: A massive show of 402 weanlings were forward with a large ring side of old and new buyers which ensured a flying trade again at Borderway.

Messrs Wilson, Meadow Farm sold a 13 month old British Blue heifer for £1070.  Limousin bulls sold to £1190 from Messrs Cowx, Hudscales and another from Messrs Mattinson & Son, Burthwaite for £1050.  Messrs Tailford, Gallow Hill Farm sold a Beef Shorthorn bull for £1050.
