Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 9th October, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had held their weekly Wednesday sales, attracting an entry of 652 store cattle, 175 weaned cattle and 333 calves.

STORE CATTLE – Once again a great catalogued entry of 652 store cattle was forward. All quality types remained easy to sell, however leaner cattle remained harder to cash.

Top overall heifer was a Limousin selling to £1155 consigned by Messrs JJ Studholme, Ash View, Wigton. Bullocks peaked at £1105 for a Charolais from Messrs JJ Brough, Clappers Farm, Wigton.

WEANED CATTLE: A small show of 175 stirks were forward to a larger ringside of buyers, which ensured good sorts sold sharper on the week.

Mr Tim McGarva, Barwhanny Farm run of stirks topped at £875 for an Aberdeen Angus heifer. Messrs Forster, Parkside Farm sold an Aberdeen Angus bullock for £775. Messrs Norman, Little Orton Farm run of Limousin bulls topped at £79- (x2) and £780 (x2) for 6-8month old bulls.
