Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

Harrison & Hetherington had forward over 1100 head at their Weekly Wednesday Sale of Cattle comprising of 747 catalogued store cattle and un-entered store bulls and stirks, 297 calves and 151 dairy cattle in the Dispersal of the Stevenson’s Ayrshire herd.

Borderway was buzzing with activity with 3 busy rings in action.

STORE CATTLE – A smaller entry of 548 store cattle whereby a good trade was again achieved for all classes topping the day was a Limousin cross heifer from Messrs Forrester & Son, Cobble Hall, Penrith attaining £1120.  Messrs Clark West Farm, Wigton sold another to £1110.  British Blues to £1070 from Messrs Riley, Underhelm, Grasmere.  Steers peaked at £1105 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Slack, Newby Farm, Carlisle and £1100 for another.   There was definitely more interest around the ringside to that of previous weeks and more cattle could have been sold to vendors advantage.

WEANED CATTLE: A good show of 202 weanlings were entered with extra buyers coming forward with trade being good throughout.  Messrs Thompson, High Drybarrows sold a Blue heifer for £915 and Messrs Forster, Parkside Farm, sold four Limousin x bullocks for £865.
