Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

At Borderway Mart on Wednesday 27th May, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their weekly sale of store and weanling cattle.

STORE CATTLE:  The weekly sale of store cattle had an entry of 448 forward. All classes were met by a flying trade, with forward sorts and hard grazing sorts seeing a sharp incline in returns.

Heifers sold to £1280 for two great heifers shown by Messrs Beattie, Shield Green, Kirklinton. Bullocks topped at £1220 for a great Aberdeen Angus cross from Messrs Bowman, Brampton Fell, Brampton, whose run of Aberdeen Angus’s averaged £1200.

WEANED CATTLE:  A great show of stirks were forward, to a great demand, ensuring a flying trade.

Messrs Gill, Newlands Farm sold an outstanding Limousin cross heifer for £1075. Messrs Dunlop & Son, Dornock Mains sold a 9-month old Limousin cross bullock for £960. Messrs Winter, Brow Top sold an 11-month old Limosuin cross bull for £930. Messrs Johnston, Horsemoor Hill run of Limousin bullocks topped at £880 and £870.
