Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

2nd September 2020

At Borderway Mart on Wednesday 2nd September, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their weekly sale of store cattle which drew a massive entry of 793 head despite fewer men at the ringside than in recent weeks the majority of cattle held firm, with leaner weathered types taking a slight knock in value.  Quality in general was harder to find and highly sought after.  A fabulous Aberdeen Angus cross bullock from Messrs Nixon, Ribton House, Workington topped the days sale when selling at £1390.  Continental bullocks peaked at £1380 for a Limousin from Messrs Graham, Red Cat, Durdar followed closely behind by a pen of three Simmental crosses bullocks from Messrs Hebson, Chapel Farm, Cotehill.  Heifers sold to £1340 for a very smart Limousin cross from Messrs Bowman, Croft House, Penrith.  Dairy bred Limousin x heifers sold at £1285 for a pen of four from Messrs Faulder, Croft House, Dovenby.  Dairy bullocks sold very well to £1105 for a pen of Holstein from Messrs Dixon, Whinney Hill, Brampton.
