Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

At Borderway Mart on Wednesday 9th September, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their weekly sale of store cattle

STORE CATTLE: Again a large number forward with demand to match.  Bullocks topped at £1550 for a Limousin from T W Wigham, Cold Shields followed by £1365 from J D Bowman Croft House and £1350 S Routledge, Old Silloth.  Aberdeen Angus bullocks were up to £1180 from Messrs Miller, Tarn Lodge.  Holstein Friesian sold to £1140 from the same home. Heifers also were highly sought after with Limousins to £1330 from Messrs J D Bowman, Croft House and  British Blues up to £1220 from Messrs Reed, Moss Side.

WEANED CATTLE: A larger entry of weaned cattle forward with all classes being very well bid for especially bulls topping the day twice at £1290.  Firstly for a 10 month old Limousin bull from Messrs Pattinson, Bonshawside, Kirtle Bridge and secondly for Limouisn x from Messrs Cooper, Hallmoor, Wetheral.   All bulls saw the largest jump on the week and many more could have been sold to vendors advantage.  Dairy bulls also sold very well seeing well fed black and white ageing 6-9 months attaining good prices.

A quality consignment from Messrs Rutter, Fartown, Alston topped the steer section at £1190.  Messrs Johnston Partnership, Cotehouse Farm, Wetheral topped the heifers at £1180.
