Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had forward 1276 cattle at their Weekly Wednesday Sale at Borderway, comprising of 854 Catalogued Store Cattle, Un-entered Store Bulls and Stirks, 431 Calves and 81 Dairy Cattle including the monthly Sale for the Border & Lakeland Holstein Club.

Borderway was buzzing with activity, as well over 200 vendors consigned cattle, and with over 160 active buyers operating, trade was very buoyant in every ring.

STORE CATTLE – A smaller entry of 398 store cattle were forward, selling to a sharper trade on the week. Achieving a top of £1400 was a Limousin cross steer from Messrs Robinson, Pelutho Park, Wigton. Simmentals sold to £1275 for two from Messrs Batey, High Knells, Carlisle. British Blues sold to £1210 from Messrs Ferguson, Sandbed Farm, Longtown, and Aberdeen Angus crosses sold to £1205 form Messrs Mitchinson, Gallowberry, Brampton.

Heifers sold to a top of £1305 from Messrs Bell, Mawbray House, Maryport for a Limousin cross and Charolais sold to £1220 from Messrs Read, Fawcettlees, Bewcastle.

WEANERS- One of the largest shows of 456 weanlings were forward to a large ringside of buyers, with trade being good throughout.

Messrs Murray, Orchard House sold a pure Charolais bull for £1065. With Messrs Oliver & Sons, Walton Woodhead run of bulls topping at £1035 for a 9 month old Limousin cross bull. Messrs Dent, Beamwham sold a 9 month old Limousin bullock to £1000.
