Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had forward 728 catalogued store cattle, un-entered young bulls and stirks and 190 calves at their weekly Wednesday sale at Borderway.

All classes of store and feeding cattle met a very firm enquiry with many more required to satisfy the demand from an ever increasing ringside of buyers.

STORE CATTLE – At the weekly sale an entry of 357 store cattle were forward.  All classes of cattle were in high demand, smart heifers and yearling cattle in particular met a flying trade.  Topping the sale at £1340 was a great well fleshed Charolais x bullock which was from Messrs Graham, Hill Head, Canonbie.   Heifers followed closely behind at £1335, this was for another forward type, this time a Blonde which was consigned by Messrs Wood, Arnold House, Ivegill.  Yearling cattle sold to a top of £1175 for a fantastic 11 month old Limousin x bullock who was sold by Messrs Johnston, East Foreshields, Alston.

WEANERS- Once again a great show of 371 stirks were forward with include 168 bull stirks with trade being good throughout. Messrs Mattinson, Burthwaite sold a 12 month old Charolais bull for £1220. Messrs Graham, Wallhead run of bulls topped at £1050 for a 10 month old Limousin cross bull.
