Borderway Store and Weanling Sale

22nd August 2012

At Borderway Mart on Wednesday 22nd August, Harrison & Hetherington held their Anniversary Store cattle show and sale of continental cross store cattle where a catalogued entry of 895 cattle were presented.

The pre-show sale was ably judged by Mr David Coulson of High Harbour Farm, Middle Rasen, Lincolnshire and kindly sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health and Allflex.  1st prize heifer and Overall Championship hours were presented to a flashy 12-month old red Limousin consigned by Messrs Powley, Greenmarsh, Carlisle.  The heifer, out of a Limousin cross British Blue dam and sired by Limousin bull Redrock Baron, was purchased for £1380 by THW Farming.

Outwith the show, a tremendous turut of store cattle was presented to a packed ringside of buyers.  Top call of the day was an outstanding Limousin heifer from Messrs Cowx, Huscales, at only 11 months old she was kcked down for £1500.  Top price in the bullock section went to annual consigner Messrs Baty, Broomhill with a Charolais entry which commanded £1450.  The 47 lots forward from Messrs Baty sold to an impressive average of £1201.
