Borderway Store & Weanling Cattle Sale

At Borderway Mart on Wednesday 29th April, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their weekly sale of 580 store & weanling cattle.

All classes of stores met a strong trade throughout and the sale was topped at £1240 for a British Blue heifer consigned by Close Farm, Penrith. Bullocks were led by a British Blue which sold for £1195 from the same home.

A good show of cattle were forward and met a strong demand throughout. Angus bullocks topped at £1140 from RA Crichton, Rottington Hall, Whitehaven. Limousins reached a leading price tag of £1150 from Messrs Batey, High Knells, Carlisle.

WEANED CATTLE: A larger show of weaned cattle were forward and were met with a great trade. With an abundance of grass around, grazing type cattle were well sought after.

Topping the trade at £1120 was an Aberdeen Angus steer consigned by Messrs Rudd, Grassings, Kirkbride.

Store bulls sold sharper on the week, to a top of £1110 for an 11 month old Limousin from Messrs Armstrong, Shankfield Head, Hethersgill. Quality Aberdeen Angus bulls were in high demand, with Messrs Johnston, Orton Hall, Great Orton selling two 11-month olds £865 and £840.

Many more are required weekly, to fulfil demand.
