Borderway Store Cattle & Weanling Sale

Harrison & Hetherington had forward 1084 head of cattle at their Weekly Wednesday Sale at Borderway, comprising of 717 catalogued Store Cattle and un-entered  Store bulls and Weanlings, 286 calves and 81 Dairy Cattle forward in the Monthly Border & Lakeland Sale.

Once again all classes proved to be a sharp trade with healthy competition for all classes in all rings.

STORE CATTLE – A good entry of store cattle forward at Borderways weekly sale whereby all classes would be slightly sharper on the week.  Top overall was a superb Charolais cross form Messrs Bowman, Croft House, Penrith selling to £1300.   Limousins to £1200 from Messrs Robinson, Pelutho Park, Wigton.  Messrs Crichton, Rottington Hall, Cockermouth sold the top priced British Blue cross to £1115 and Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1100 from Messrs Story, Blackrigg, Longtown,

Steers sold to a top of £1260 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Robinson, Pelutho Park Wigton closely followed by Messrs Donaldson, East Park, Carlisle selling another to £1250.  British Blues to £1255, £1215 and £1200 from Messrs Mason, Bank Farm, Penrith and Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1160 from Claremont Properties, Penrith.  Many more could have been sold to vendors advantage.   Please advise entries as soon as possible to the Main Office for next weeks sale.

WEANED CATTLE: Once again a great entry of 261 which included 120 bull stirks with a large ring side of buyers which ensured all classes being in great demand.

Messrs Pinguey, High House sold the top priced Limouisn heifer for £1020.  Messrs Reed, The Knarr run of cattle topped at £1000 for a British Blue x bullock and £960 for Blue cross heifers,

Messrs Dixon, Upper Burnmouth Farm, sold a Limousin x bullock for £940 and two Limousin x heifers for £920.

Limousin bulls sold well with Messrs Harrison,  Midtown selling one for £895,  Messrs Milburn, Wallend Farm selling another at £890 and finally at £885 Messrs Todd & Son, The Craggs.
