At Borderway Mart, Carlisle on Monday 9th September Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of Store Lambs.
A smaller, plainer show was forward which saw trade dearer on the week. A good pen of Texel lambs from Messrs Norman, Kirkhouse Farm, Cockermouth topped the days sale at £67.50. A pen of well farmed mules from Messrs Story, Stoneknowe, Newcastleton realised £55 with Suffolks topping at £62 from Messrs McVittie, Holm Cottage, Langholm and Beltex to £61 for a pen of 12 from Messrs Todd, Southernby Hall, Wigton.
A plainer show was met by a good ringside of buyers ensuring all classes of sheep were well bid for; a lot more could have been sold to the vendors advantage.
