Borderway Store, Weaned and Suckeld Calf Sale

STORE CATTLE – A marvellous entry of 531 strong store cattle forward and were seen to sell to an exceptional trade throughout for a very mixed show.  Top overall was a Limousin cross steer from Messrs Aitchison, Kershopefoot, Newcastleton attaining £1390.

SUCKLED CALVES: – An outstanding show of 462 suckled calves were forward with an exceptional quality throughout.  Mr Gary Bell, Haas Side Farm, run of well bred Limousin cross and British Blue cross bullocks and heifers sold to average £1087 and topped at £1280 (x2) for 9 month old Limousin bullocks and £1180 for a 9 month old Limousin cross heifer.  Messrs Vance, Bridgehouse Farm run of Limousin cross bullocks and heifers topped at £1100 for two Limousin cross bullocks.    Messrs Oliver, Cawfields consignment of Limousin cross bullocks and heifers topped at £1040 for 3 at 7 month old for bullocks.    Messrs Murray, The Throp Limousin bullocks and heifers topped at £1030 (x3) and £1020 (x4) and £1010 for 7 to 8 months old Limousin cross bullocks and £980 for a pair of Limousin cross heifers.

WEANED CATTLE: A smaller and plainer show of 168 weanlings were on offer but trade was good throughout.  Messrs Martin, Hesleywell sold a 10 and 11 month old Limousin cross bullock sold for £950 and £915.
