Borderway Store & Weanling Cattle

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had forward over 995 head at their weekly Wednesday sale comprising of 761 catalogued store cattle, unentered store bulls and stirks and 234 calves.

A better offering for quality in all departments met a fast selling trade with a full ringside of buyers in attendance.

STORE CATTLE – Yet another good entry and show of 536 store cattle whereby a huge ringside of buyers and plenty active bidding was evident.  Trade was very good considering the current position in farming and the hardest cattle to sell were any plain or weathered types.   Top overall was a Limousin cross steer from Messrs Charlton, Crown Point, Penrith achieving £1190.  Messrs Bowman, Croft House, Penrith sold another to £1165 and John Holliday, Townfoot, Penrith to £1160.  British Blues crosses from Messrs Beaty, Durdar, Carlisle sold to £1165.  Charolais crosses from Messrs Graham, Hillhead, Canonbie to £1140 and Aberdeen Angus crosses from Messrs Story, Blackrigg, Longtown to £1135.

Heifers once again easily sold and peaked at £1140 from a British Blue Cross from Messrs Stewart, Craigour Farm, Limousin cross heifers to £1130 from Messrs Bowman, Croft House, Penrith and finally Charolais crosses to £1120 from Messrs Routledge, Old Silloth Farm, Wigton.

Black and Whites sold well for fleshed cattle and peaked at £965 from Messrs Hebson, Town End, Penrith.
