Borderway Store & Weanling Cattle Sale

At Borderway Mart on Wednesday 8th July, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their weekly sale of store and weanling cattle.

STORE CATTLE: A smaller entry of 380 store cattle forward. Topping the sale at £1520 was an excellent Limousin heifer from Messrs Barnes, Hutton Roof, Penrith with the same good home selling others at £1390 and £1380. Also at £1380 was a Limousin heifer from Messrs Weal. Birkshawhead. Top price bullock came from Messrs Beaty, Durdar Farm, Carlisle who sold a British Blue at £1300. Limousin bullocks sold to £1270 from Messrs Grice, Newtown Farm, Carlisle.

WEANED CATTLE: Once again a large entry of weaned cattle were forward with a good ringside of buyers which ensured a great trade for all classes.

Messrs Dixon & Sons, Haresceugh Castle sold a Limousin bull for £1230.  Messrs Armstrong, Shankfield Head run of Limousin cross bulls topped at £1100.  Messrs Gibson, Cocklet Hill sold a Limousin bullock for £1045.  Messrs McWhirter, Garvilland, Glenluce sold the top priced Charolais cross bullocks and heifers for £940 for 2 bullocks and 2 heifers.
