Borderway Store & Weanling Cattle Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had forward over 1000 cattle at their weekly Wednesday sale comprising of 610 catalogued Store cattle and unentered Store bulls and Weanlings, 222 Calves and 219 Dairy cattle from the Dispersal sale of the Lesnessock Pedigree Holstein and Ayrshire Herd.

All classes of cattle continue to meet an exceptionally strong demand with more needed to satisfy buyers requirements. 

STORE CATTLE – a smaller entry of 406 store cattle was forward to a massive ringside of buyers, who were on hand to ensure all classes of cattle reached extreme rates.

Messrs TT & JE Mason, Bank Farm, Penrith can with another wonderful run of cattle which swept the board, topping the sale with a truly outstanding Limousin bullock which sold at £1330, followed by a British Blue bullock selling to £1240.

Mr Ian Knight, Stephney Farm made the long trip from South West Cumbria with his usual exceptional run of cattle. He sold bullocks to a top of £1220 and also topped the day’s heifer trade at £1185.

WEANED CATTLE: An outstanding show of 204 weaned cattle were forward with a large ring side of buyers ensuring a flying trade.

Mr Iain Graham, Rose Castle Farm sold two Limousin heifers for £1225. Messrs Ivinson Cooper House Farm sold a Charolais x bullock for £1080 and Mr Stanley Smith, Brocklerigg sold Charolais x bullocks to £1080. Mr Gary Bell, Haas Side Farm’s run of outstanding bullocks and heifers topped at £1050 for a 10-month-old Limousin x heifer and £1030 for two 11 month old bullocks. Messrs Cadzow & Co, Duncrahill Farm’s run of ¾ Limousin bullocks topped at £980(x3) and £970(x2).

One of the best shows of bull seen at Carlisle for some time with Messrs Cleasby, Lindon House’s run of 16 11-month-old pure Limousin bulls selling to average £1024 and topping at £1100, £1090(x3), £1080(x2), £1050(x2) and £1030(x2). Messrs Eve, Stubbs Gill Farm sold 3 Limousin bulls to average £1005 and top at £1075.
